About Me
My name is Kaycee Hawn, and I'm the editor for Renaissance Wordsmith!
I'm an avid short story writer (albeit not a published one), with an imagination that reaches far beyond the stars, or so I like to think. I have an excellent grasp of the English language, and can be very picky about grammar and editing. My grandfather, grandmother, and several aunts and uncles work or teach in the English writing field, and as such, they have strongly instilled proper grammar in me.
I've been writing for as long as I can remember, though only recently (just in the last few years) have I become more interested in writing more often. Much of my writing is fantasy, most often set in fantastical worlds with non-human characters. Occasionally I'll write science fiction as well, and sometimes general fiction is a nice change of pace. I have been a participant in the National Novel Writing Month several times and will probably be again this year!
I'm also an avid reader. I enjoy fantasy, science fiction, alternate fiction, mysteries and crime novels, true crime, humor, and some historical fiction or general fiction. Authors on my bookshelf include Lisa Gardener, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Tad Williams, Orson Scott Card, and Patrick Rothfuss.
I enjoy putting my imagination to work in as many ways possible. I do text-based roleplaying quite often. I'm an artist, typically of fantasy sort creatures, or real world. When I have the time and opportunity, I'm a table-top roleplayer and gamer. I'm also a console and PC gamer.
I've been married for fifteen years to my wonderful husband, living in Texas for most of those years with our collection of pets. I've an Associates of Applied Sciences degree in computer engineering, as well as criminal justice. Even so, the written word is one of my biggest interests, whether I'm writing it, reading it, or roleplaying it.
